Electric Pickle
Fact: A pickle, when exposed to an electric current, will glow like a light bulb. Boing Boing has more. No word on how it tastes afterward.
Stolen Munch paintings found safe
Stolen Munch paintings found safe “Two masterpieces by artist Edvard Munch have been recovered two years after they were stolen from an Oslo museum. The Scream and Madonna were found in a police operation. ‘We are 100% certain they are the originals. The damage was much less than feared,’ police said.” The amount of relief I’m feeling right now is surprising....
littleFoot
littleFoot Part 1 of a gorgeous and funny Flash animation by Adam Phillips featuring furry animal things.
The Simpsons vs. Star Trek
A stirring (and somewhat bizarre) mash-up of the Simpsons and Star Trek themes performed on an electric piano, theremin, and plastic funnel.
iPod + Colbert Green Screen Challenge
iPod + Colbert Green Screen Challenge So far, the only response to Stephen Colbert’s Lightsaber Challenge that I’ve been at all impressed with. Very clever.
Subtitles for Homestar Runner
Subtitles for Homestar Runner The insanely dedicated fans at the Homestar Runner Wiki are adding subtitles to every Homestar Runner cartoon. Phlip’s excellent Greasemonkey script (which also does other cool stuff like add a seek bar to toons and make them full-screen) reads the subtitles from Wiki and displays them in sync with the dialogue as you watch toons on HomestarRunner.com....
Emmys 2006 intro
Conan O’Brien visits Lost, The Office, 24, House, and To Catch a Predator. His opening monologue and musical number are funny, too. (Expect these to get nuked by NBC post-haste.)

Fallen Art
A brilliant tragicomic animation by Tomek Baginski.
Hanso Exposed video fragments
A very dedicated fan of the Lost Experience alternate reality game has edited together the 53 video fragments “leaked” from Hanso Exposed to date. Impressive work. He updates the video almost daily as new clips roll in. (Can you tell I’m anxious for season three to start?) (via Digg)
Lost UK Promo
A very interesting promo for Lost that only aired in the UK. Another here.
Improv Everywhere: Slo-Mo Home Depot
Improv Everywhere agents numbering more than 200 invade the Manhattan Home Depot and slow things down a bit. Lots more video clips and narrative at the Improv Everywhere site—-don’t miss the sped-up clip. (via kottke.org)
Lost Season 3 Poster
Pretty, but do you think they could have airbrushed those irises a bit more? Notice that Michael is conspicuously absent. I don’t want to have to wait until October 4 for the season three to start. Update: A couple other things to take note of: Locke, Deskmond, and Eko are apparently still alive, and there’s at least one hair stylist on the island. There’s also a lot of subtle...

Gallery of “Misused” Quotation Marks Repeat after me: I will not use quotation marks for emphasis. I will not use quotation marks for emphasis. I will not use quotation marks for emphasis. (Thanks, Mandy!)
Homestar Runner: Strongest Man in the World
Homestar Runner: Strongest Man in the World To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the original Homestar Runner children’s book, The Brothers Chaps have released this superb cartoon remake. As always, the Homestar Runner Wiki has more info than you could possibly want.
On the Implausibility of the Death Star's Trash...
On the Implausibility of the Death Star’s Trash Compactor Personally, were it up to me, I would have designed special garbage ships instead of employing a crude, cumbersome, and inefficient (to say nothing of unsanitary) compactor-worm combo to deal with the trash. McSweeney’s, natch.
Urban Dictionary: prossibly
Urban Dictionary: prossibly “If an event is both possible and probable, save yourself some time and admit that its prossible.” I invented this word independently of whomever posted it on Urban Dictionary (though not necessarily before). It’s incredibly useful, but I use it to mean a state between possible and probable, i.e. less than probable, but more than just possible.

"Particle Man" vs. Lost
“Particle Man” vs. Lost Another They Might Be Giants/Lost mash-up. Worth sticking around for the punchline. See also Lost Fingertips. P.S. “Embedding disabled by request” on YouTube is really lame. (Thanks, Roxy!)

Snakes on a Plane: The Album is not at all what I’d have expected. (Thanks, Amanda!)
Lost Fingertips
A brilliant mash-up of They Might Be Giants’ “Fingertips” with well-chosen scenes from Lost.
Reports of Garfield's death greatly exaggerated
Reports of Garfield’s death greatly exaggerated Garfield cartoonist Jim Davis has refuted speculation that the cartoon cat is slowly starving to death in an abandoned house. The October, 1989 comic strips were simply a Halloween scare. Still, I’ll never be able to look at Garfield the same way again.
The Show #100
The Show #100 Ze Frank’s hundredth episode is a sweetly sentimental burst of autobiography.

YTMND Wiki
YTMND Wiki If any site was badly in need of a wiki, it was YTMND. Finally, some answers!
The Death of Garfield
The Death of Garfield This YTMND digs up a set of Garfield comic strips from October 23-28, 1989 that are positively bleak. The strips are, indeed, authentic, as you can read them (in color) on the official Garfield web site. As Wikipedia points out, the strips seem to imply that all of the cheery Garfield strips since October ‘89 have been fantasies Garfield is playing out in his head to...
The Amazing Screw-On Head
The Amazing Screw-On Head is an animated pilot the Sci-Fi Channel is running on its web site. It says: In this hilarious send-up of Lovecraftian horror and steampunk adventure, President Abraham Lincoln’s top spy is a bodyless head known only as Screw-On Head. Hokey though that sounds, I just watched it, and it’s flat-out fantastic. The animation is gorgeous, the dialogue is snappy...

The Perry Bible Fellowship
The Perry Bible Fellowship At long last, Nicholas Gurewitch’s excellent webcomic has a shiny new web site. Unfortunately, it’s still impossible to link to an individual strip without linking to the image itself.

DialASong.com
DialASong.com They Might Be Giants have launched a brand new DialASong.com. Though I was fond of the old Chopping Block-designed site, the new site is more faithful to the original Dial-A-Song concept and also serves as a portal to TMBG’s excellent podcast.
