Package saver, U.S. Patent No. 4498586, invented by Carmela Vitale in 1983.
I’m so curious about Ms. Vitale. She doesn’t have any other patents to her name. It was less than 30 years ago, is she still alive? Was she a pizzaiola, or maybe just someone who was delivered a squashed pizza and figured out how to prevent it? Did her invention net her any significant wealth?
Seems like fodder for an episode of This American Life.

Family Dinner by Graham Annable
Having Cronus as a father was tough on little Zeus.
